You could browse through the old Wills in Wayne County probate :

https://familysearch.org/search/image/index#uri=https%3A%2F%2Ffamilysearch.org%2Frecapi%2Fsord%2Fwaypoint%2FMDSD-638%3A268495001%3Fcc%3D1999196

Over 500 Appels popped up in Pennsylvania, Births and Christenings, 1709-1950 at FamilySeach within the 1790-1850 parameters for birthdates.

Wayne County was formed from Northampton County after 1798 so there may be some records at Historical Society of Pennsylvania ( http://discover.hsp.org/Search/Results?lookfor=Wayne+county+church+records&type=AllFields&submit=Find)

or US GenWeb for Wayne  or https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Pennsylvania_Archives_and_Libraries
