Abraham Abney was a Virginia colonist.

Abraham Abney was baptised on 27 December 1702 at Abingdon parish, Gloucester county, Virginia.[1] He was a carpenter early in life. In 1743 he sold land described as the land Edward Dean lives on (his son-in-law). At one point in time, he was charged with 'breaking stocks" and was imprisoned for being and appearing drunk in court. He became a doctor, claimed to discover a cure for cancer and applied to Virginia, and received an award for claim. He performed service to the Continental Army, and is an accepted patriot for DAR. He resided in Spotsylvania, Hanover and Halifax counties in Virginia, then moved to South Carolina first in the Ninety-Six District, then Camden District.

He deeded land on 3 April 1764 - 400 acres to son Nathaniel Abney, in Halifax County, Virginia. (page 162, Halifax County, Virginia deeds 1764)

Abraham died between 4 June 1783 and 26 October 1785 in Camden District, Chester County, South Carolina. He is buried in Kelly's Chapel Cemetery, Carslisle, Union County, South Carolina.[2]

This entry is a mess. Sarah was NOT their daughter. She was d/o Dannett ABNEY Jr. & Mary MEREDITH (LWT). Reuben was NOT their son. He was s/o Dannett ABNEY Jr. & Mary MEREDITH (LWT). "This" Paul was not their son. He was s/o John ABNEY/ABNER (see my book). Michael was NOT their son. He was s/o George ABNEY & Unity (LWT). Rhoda Susan was NOT their daughter. There is no proof that the Rhoda Susan who married RUSSELL was an ABNEY at all. There were no ABNEY's in this generation with a middle name. See my book: Ancestry and Genealogy of Dr. Abraham Abney of Virginia to clean this mess up.
