Biography

Marie Anne Azure was born circa Jul 1852 to Charles Azure and Nancy Grant. Baptism took place at Assumption Parish in Pembina, Dakota Territory on 31 Aug 1852, when she was one month old.[1]

At the time of the 1870 United States census, Marie Anne was enumerated along with her parents, siblings and extended family members near Fort Totten, Dakota Territory.[2]

Marie Anne married Jean Baptiste (Laverdure) Lavadure (son of Pierre Laverdure and Catherine Charette) at St. Joseph, Leroy, Pembina County, Dakota Territory on 7 Aug 1871.[3]

At the time of the 1880 United States census, Jean Baptiste and Marie Anne were enumerated at St. Peter's Mission, Montana, along with four of their children: Francoise, Nancy, Philip and Daniel.[4]

On 25 Jul 1900, Marie Anne (a resident of St. Peter's Mission, Montana) completed a declaration at Lethbridge, Alberta claiming Métis scrip.[5]

At the time of the 1920 census, Jean Baptiste and Marie Anne were enumerated at Phillips County, Montana.[6]

At the time of the 1930 census, Marie Anne (a widow) was enumerated at the household of her son Philip in Phillips County, Montana.[7]
