Biography

Matilda Balbani was born in 1542 in Antwerpen, and died 1564 in Middelburg, Zeeland. Matilda Balbani married Jacob van der Goes (1538-1603) in 1588. ^[1][2]

Matilda Balbani is said to have been born 1542 Antwerpen, Belgium and died 1564 Middleburg, Zeeland, Netherlands. She was the daughter of Jean Balbani (1487-1545) and Elizabeth Calandrini (1510-). Matilda Balbani married Jacob Van der Goes (1538-1603) in 1588.^[3]

At Antwerpen on 5 augustus 1542 Thomas Balbani, from Lucca, Jan Balbani, Jean Angeli Davom (Milaan), Vincent Adolphini, from Lucca, Bonaventura Michaeli (Lucca), Baptista Imperial Balian (Genève) sent under leadership of Jean Angeli en Niklaas Rosso de Lisola uit Genève, on the chariots of Niklaas and Anthomio Ocre from Lorreinen various merchandise from/trough Basil to Italy. De magistrates testify Niklaas Rosso de Lisola and Hubert van Vihen appeared before them and declared under oath to know Niklaas Nupens very well as servant of Niklaas Rosso and born in Antwerpen.^[2]

In 02/1600 a merchant named Michel Balbani is voting against the ringing of the bell at the exchange in Antwerp. Merchant Cesar Balbani is voting in favor of it. He, in 1602 is Chapel master of the Holy Sacrement.^[2]

Tomaso Balbani 1559-1572, trades fabric in 1549 (5.2 pieces wth a length of 8.5m for a sales value of 1460 gulden; order 29. Tomaso Balbani 4.264 ponden Vlaams (1 pond=6 gulden); bankrupt 1595, had a son Francesco. Juan Balbani also was a fabric supplier.^[2]
