Biography

Lydia Bampton was born, we estimate, about 1842.

Her Patterson descendants (Millie (Forrest) Patterson) state that she died after giving birth to Sarah Agnes and another twin daughter. ^[1] However, that can't be entirely true as she is the mother of record of a younger daughter, Mary Louisa. ^[2] It's possible that the story is a bit confused and that Lydia died giving birth to Mary Louisa, not Sarah Agnes. Census data confirms that both daughters lived (at different times) with Robert's mother Agnes (Hutton) Smith.
