Biography

William was born in about 1802. He was the son of Dr John Beatty.

William was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. He graduated MA.

They had two daughters and a son;

John Guinness (b. 1840, d. 1903)

Susan Anna (b. 1843, d. 1926)

Mary Letitia (b. 1845, d. 1916)

William Crofton Beatty, M.D., F.C.P.I., 28 Molesworth Street, was elected a life member of the R.D.S. in 1830. His proposers were Reverend John Pomeroy and John Boyd. He was a museum representative on the general selected committee (1834-38), a member of the executive council (1838-43), and of the chemistry committee (1830) from which he resigned on 12 February 1846, although he continued to attend occasionally at general meetings during 1846. He was also a member of the natural history and museum committee 1830.

UK Census Date 1871: Living with his wife, daughter Mary, three visitors and three servants in Weston-Super-Mare, Weston-Super-Mare, Somersetshire, England. Aged 68.

The R.D.S. listed his address as 18 Merrion Square north (1858-69); Clifton, and 62 Lower Mount Street (1870-2), and again at 62 Lower Mount Street (1877-83). He was deleted from the membership list 1873, restored 1877-83, listed with no address 1884-95 and finally deleted in 1896.

His wife passed away in 1881.

He passed away in 1891 at the age of about 88. ^[1]
