Biography

John was born or baptised on 10 May 1796 to John Broadfoot and Elizabeth Dunce,^[1] at Whithorn, Wigtownshire, Scotland^[2]. He married Agnes Macdowell^[3]. They raised their family at Reiffer Park, a farm located outside the village of Whithorn, in Wigtownshire.

John appears to have passed away prior to the 1851 census.

• Reiffer Park was an estate owned by Horatio Stewart Murray, Esq. of Broughton.^[9]
• In 1841, the family was living at Reiffer Park and employed three people on their farm.
• In 1851, the children were living with their grandparents at Ripher Park and employed two people, plus a brother-in-law, John Dunse.
