Samuel R. Brosius[1]
Samuel R. Brosius, of Stanton, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Galbraith, of Brookville, Thursday morning, after an illness of several months. He would have celebrated his 96th birthday on Dec. 6.
The deceased lived his entire life in the community of Stanton, where he was born in 1849. He was a son of Peter and Christina (Shoemaker) Brosius. He was united in marriage in 1883 to Elizabeth Stahlman, who died some time later. In 1910 he married Anna Harp, who survives him.
An ever faithful member of the Methodist Church of Stanton, he taught the Adult Bible Class there for many years. Only last May failing health forced him to give up this work. He was by occupation a farmer. Well known in the Brookville area, his death is sincerely mourned by many friends.
Besides his widow, he leaves the following sons and daughters: Webster Brosius and Mrs. Frank Galbraith of Brookville; Mrs. Ladd Reitz and Mrs. Harry Reitz, of near Brookville, and Henry Brosius, of Titusville. Eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren...and one brother, Brown Brosius, of near Summerville, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Reitz Funeral Home, Brookville, with interment in the Ohl Cemetery[2]. Rev. W. E. Bartlett, of Brookville, and Rev. Skinner, of Stanton, will officiate.
