Dietrick Brünjes was born on 24 June 1888, at 134 Morris Street, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, to Henry Brunjes and Johanna Jahr.
[1][2]
(The 1905 census claims he was born in January 1891,[3] but his birth certificate clearly has him born on 24 June 1888.[1] The New Jersey State Archives did not find a birth record for Dietrick or William Brunjes in January 1891.[4])
In 1895, he was living in Union Township, Hudson County, New Jersey, with his parents and siblings.
He was attending school.

According to a family tradition, one of Elizabeth Brunjes's brothers fought for Germany in World War I.
[9]
A Deitrick Brunjes did die in 1918 in Germany.

Perhaps he is Henry and Johanna's son.
Another possible reference is the Dietrich Brunger who married Theresa Cooper in 1935 in New Jersey.

Brungers family tradition, reported by Janet McKnight to Harry A. Ide, by e-mail, 14 August 2021.
'I have a mystery on Dietrich Brunjes (Brungers) who was Heinrich and Johanna's son. My brother told me that we had an uncle who was in WW1 on the German side. I found Dietrick Brunjes died in 1918 in Germany. There is a casualty list record on my Ancestry file for him. I often wondered if Johanna went back to Germany to visit his grave site. As I mentioned before a Johanna Jahr was found on a passenger list dated 1922 departure and arrival to and from Germany with Herman Brunger from New York. I dismissed it because of Herman Brunger in New York. At one time I might have found their family.'
