In the 1880 census, Kate (age 4) was the stepdaughter of John Shruby in Washington Township, Mercer, New Jersey, United States.^[1]

In the 1880 census, Catharine (age 4) was the daughter of Elisabeth A. Burr in Plumsted Township, Ocean, New Jersey, United States.^[2]

In the 1910 census, Kate (age 33) was the single housekeeper of Thomas N Emley in New Hanover, Burlington, New Jersey, United States.^[3]

Research Notes

There are two 1880 census which reflect the family of Elizabeth Burr. On the 9th of June, she appears to be enumerated on the record living with John Shruby, who may be her father, in Washington Township, Mercer County. The children listed as step-children match the names of Elizabeth's children and should have been enumerated as grandchildren. Elizabeth is then in a 1880 census dated 23-24 June living on her own with the same children in Plumsted Township, Ocean County.
