She married Robert Pettypool on 16 Mar 1811 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
[2]
Mary and Robert had either 12 or 13 children. Twelve of the children are given for Robert and Mary in Historical Southern Families.
[3]
The child missing from this otherwise comprehensive list is Nancy Pettypool who is included in many trees as their child. No direct evidence has been found by me for anything except her marriage in 1841 in Calloway County, where Robert is living at the time, and a death record for Nancy's daughter Martha, also in Calloway County. This record gives Nancy and her husband from the marriage record as Martha's parents. The presumed death date of 1850 is because Nancy's children are living with Robert and Mary in the census that year. Nancy is included here provisionally in her likely birth position in the list below.[4]
After their marriage, the family lived in Wilson County for a time, but by 1829, they had moved on to Stewart County, Tennessee,
[5]
and by 1830, to Calloway County, Kentucky.
[6]
They lived in Calloway County until Mary died on December 2, 1852.

She is buried in Pettypool Cemetery Calloway County, Kentucky, USA [8]
