I first became interested in genealogy through my mother - she often spoke of her grandmother and great-grandmother's families. I was particularly interested when I realized they each married a man with the same uncommon surname, Dygert. (Yes, all has been explained.)
One day my late husband (then fiancé) and I were in a computer store. He was taking forever at what he was looking at, so I was wandering around and came upon one of the early editions of Family Tree Maker. At first I thought, no, I don't really know enough to spend money on software. And besides, where will I find the time? Which is very funny to look back on, now! As I kept waiting for Dan, I kept going back to the FTM box, and finally decided to get it. The rest, as they say, is history!
In addition to genealogy, I love to read, especially mysteries and urban fantasy. Favorite TV shows are Dr. Who, Game of Thrones, Criminal Minds, and Walking Dead (although sometimes, while going "ewww!" during the last of those, I wonder why). And we have quite the little zoo, with horses, miniature donkeys, and llamas.
Project Coordinator for the Tennessee Project. Tennessee is home to several of my father's ancestral lines, and I'm so excited to be part of this project!
Lambert Name Study
My special interest is in Lamberts who migrated from Tennessee to southern Illinois:
Lambert Families of Tennessee and Southern Illinois.
Bandy Name Study
I feel a special debt to the Bandy line, for helping me track down an ancestor I had thought to be untrackable -- Jane (Brown) Lambert (abt.1820-1851)
Landulph, Cornwall One Place Study
Home of some of my earliest known ancestors.
Illinois Resource Page, U. S. Civil War
My gg/grandfather fought in the 120th Illinois Infantry. He came home. His younger brother was also in the 120th, but died at the Siege of Vicksburg.
Company G, 120th Illinois Infantry. Creating profiles of the other soldiers in my gg/grandfather's company.
Cherry, Illinois Mine Disaster, 1909. 259 men died because an untrained boy put a coal car full of hay under a kerosene torch.
Southern Pacific Locomotive 704 Boiler Explosion, 1912. San Antonio, Texas - at least 26 victims, probably more; some bodies were incinerated in the explosion.
To aid WikiTree in the administration of my account should I be incapacitated, or in the event of my death, I hereby give permission for all private profiles I'm managing to be transferred to the following WikiTreer, whether or not they are currently on the Trusted Lists:

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team or if you would like to be more involved.
The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
At our last check-in, you were identified as a member of the Unknowns Team. You are no longer listed on that page. Which of the Profile Improvement Project Teams would you like to work with?
If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (You will need your Wiki ID for both). Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.
Sincerely,
Debi Hoag and Kay Knight, Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project
Robin Shaules, Project Coordinator, Profile Improvement Project

The US Civil War January Challenge is to connect US Civil War Soldiers for the January Connect-a-Thon. This year will be a twist of what I usually do. Instead of you choosing a "Surname Letter", you will be choosing from a block of soldiers whom I've already screened that show they have family to connect. Each soldier has a connection to one or more of his immediate family--parents, siblings, spouses, children, on their profile. Whether you work on one soldier or your whole block of soldiers, it's one step closer in our goal to connect each of our US Civil War Soldiers. The goal is to make sure all these soldiers are connected at least by one or two degrees. You can sign up now by clicking this link: US Civil War Sign-up Chart
