Eliza Ann BATES was born about 1836 in Virginia (now West Virginia) and she was recorded in the 1900 census record so it is assumed she died after its enumeration.
Maiden name listed as Eliza BATES on the death records of her son, John Wesley CHIN (Died: 6 September 1935 in Wayne County, West Virginia)[2] and her son, Joseph Leonard CHINN (Died: 19 June 1957 in Wayne County, West Virginia).[3]
Children of William H. CHINN and Eliza Ann BATES:
Leander CHINN (Born: About 1861 in Virginia (now West Virginia; Married: 29 December 1881 in Wayne County, West Virginia to Polly Emmaline FRALEY[4])
Albert CHINN (Born: About 1864 in West Virginia; Married: 7 September 1888 in Wayne County, West Virginia to Daisy J. RATLIFF[5])
John Wesley CHINN (Born: About 1867 in West Virginia [Death record stated he was born: 29 March 1868 in Wayne County, West Virginia]; Died: 6 September 1935 in Lavalette, Wayne County, West Virginia[6]; Married: 28 January 1892 in Wayne County, West Virginia to Mary BLOSS[7])
Daisy B. CHINN (Born: About 1869 in West Virginia; Married: 4 June 1888 in Wayne County, West Virginia to J. A. CARTER[8])
William CHINN (Born: About 1872 in West Virginia; Died: 17 April 1901 in Wayne County, West Virginia) - Hit by Lightning.
Navada CHINN (Gender: Female, Born: About 1877 in West Virginia; Married: 26 August 1894 in Wayne County, West Virginia to James WOOTON[9])
Joseph Leonard CHINN (Born: 28 October 1879 in Wayne County, West Virginia[10], [11], [12]; Died: 19 June 1957 in Huntington, Wayne County, West Virginia[13]; Married: 18 January 1900 in Wayne County, West Virginia to Harriet EARL[14])
Possible connection
Leander Witton CHINN who married Anna EARL and had the following children:
William CHINN (Born: 30 November 1899 in Wayne County, West Virginia[15])
Albert CHINN (Born: 9 May 1902 in Wayne County, West Virginia[16])
George Woodrow CHINN (Born: 28 November 1917 in Wayne County, West Virginia[17])
Reasoning: William CHINN's son, Joseph Leonard CHINN was married to Harriet EARL on 18 January 1900 in Wayne County, West Virginia. It is not unlikely that this Leander Witton CHINN could have been related to William CHINN in some fashion or the Anna EARL could have been related to Harriet EARL. Until exact relationship is determined between the two families, I decided to place this information here for future researchers to place in the appropriate profiles as more is discovered.
