Benjamin was born in 1788 in what is now Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee. Tennessee wasn't a state then, so this was either Washington County North Carolina or territory. His father was Jeremiah H Cloud (1754-1832) iand mother: Judith Henderson (~ 1758 -1830)
He married Nancy Netherland, born 1798 in Powhatan, Virginia, in Kingsport, Sullivan county, Tennessee. Soon after their marriage, Benjamin and Nancy built a house near the present Ridgefields area of Kingsport, Tennessee. Benjamin and Nancy removed to Jackson ounty., Alabama by 1823 and from there to Scott County, Virginia where he is listed in the 1830 census. Following the death of his father, Benjamin was named adminitrator of his estate and returned to Kingsport where they lived and farmed the remainder of their lives.
Benjamin Cloud served as a 1st Lieut. in Capt. Joseph Everett's Company of Col. Ewen Allison's 1st Regiment East Tennessee Militia in the War of 1812 from 7 Jan. to 18 May 1814. . [1][2]
