Biography
Ann Cramp was baptised on 29th July 1765 at St Gile's Church, Dallington, Sussex, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Cramp.
Stephen Fox, of this parish (age ~26), and Ann Cramp, of this parish (age ~29), were married after banns on 4th November 1794 at St Mary the Virgin's Church, Warbleton, Sussex. She signed the marriage register with 'X'.
Stephen and Ann went on to have five children who were all baptised at this same church: Stephen 1797, Elizabeth 1799, Mary 1802, John 1805, and Thomas 1808.
Ann Fox died age 55 and she was buried on 3rd April 1821 at St Mary the Virgin's Church, Warbleton, Sussex.
There is an informative memorial inscription at St Mary the Virgin's Church, Warbleton, Sussex to Ann and also to her husband: 'In memory of Ann, wife of Stephen Fox. John and Elizabeth Fox had a son, Stephen, baptised in Sept. 1768. In 1794 Stephen Fox married Ann Cramp. In 1821 Ann Fox was buried, aged 55. In 1832 Stephen Fox was buried, aged 65.'
