Samuel Cramp was possibly born ~1716 in Crowhurst, Sussex, the son of John and Catherine Crampe (sources needed to confirm this).

Spouse 1: We have yet to find details of Samuel's first wife Betty, or when and where they married. Samuel and Betty had a daughter, also named Betty, who was baptised on 21st May 1754 at St Giles' Church, Dallington, Sussex. Sadly Samuel's wife died just over four years later and she was buried on 13th October 1758 at this same church.

Spouse 2: Samuel Cramp (age ~44?), and Mary Grant (age ~26), both of this parish were married after banns on 22nd September 1760 at St Giles' Church, Dallington, Sussex. Both signed the register with 'X'. They went on to have ten children, the first five being baptised at this same church, and the last five being baptised at St Bartholomew's Church, Burwash, Sussex: Samuel 1760/61 (seven moths after his parents' marriage), Thomas 1763/64, John 1764, Ann 1765, William 1767, Sarah 1769 (the first of those baptised in Burwash), Charles 1770, Hannah 1773, Harry 1777 (infant death), and Benjamin 1778.

Samuel died (age ~68?) and he was buried on 24th April 1784 at St Bartholomew's Church, Burwash, Sussex.
