Biography

When Richard Bennett Creecy was born on March 5, 1880, in Washington, District of Columbia, his father, Edward, was 32 and his mother, Ignatia, was 22. He had two brothers. He married Louise Reifsneider. He died on September 28, 1930, in his hometown at the age of 50, and was buried in Arlington, Virginia.

Frederick News-Post, 6 October 1930:

Mrs. Louise R. Creecy was attacked with a hatchet to her head last Sunday, Sept 28, 1930, by her husband, Lieut. Colonel Richard B. Creecy. She died today October 5, 1930 without regaining consciousness.

A special Naval Board which investigated received information indicating that Creecy was temporarily insane when Creecy murdered his wife with a hatchet to her head, prior to killing himself- Self-inflicted suicide using one bullet from a .38 caliber revolver.
