Henry Doude's Allegation for Marriage License:
'2nd May 1635 Dowd et Dadson
This day appeared personally Henry Dowd of Tenterden in the Diocese of Canterbury husbandman and bachelor of the age of 22 years or thereabouts and alleges that with his father's consent, he intendeth to marry with Elizabeth Dadson of Maidstone in the same Diocese virgin of the age of 22 years or thereabouts daughter of Ambrose Dadson of the same husbandman who appeared personally and gave his consent to this intendeth marriage. And of the truth of the promise and that he knoweth of no lawfull let or impeddiment by reason of Precontract, Consanguinity, Affinity or otherwise to hinder the same marriage, he made faith and desired licence to be married in the parish church of Langley in the Diocese aforesaid.' Ambrose Dadson made his mark.

The will[1] of Elizabeth (Dadson) Doude as transcribed by Craig Dowd:
the Last will and testament of elizabeth Doude of gilford in the county of newhaven of the colony of coneticott as followeth. I being crasy and weakely in Body and alsoe Stricken in yeares yet in full injoyment of mind and memory Blessed be god doe Bequeath and give my Soule to god in our Lord Jesus Christ that gave it me and my Body to Be desently Buryead in the dust and being the Lord hath given me some Little portion of wordly goods or estate and therefore think it my duty to give and Bestow it as followeth after my Desease Imprimes:
I give to Jacob doude my sonn the whole of my home lot with orchars and all Buildings that are upon it exsept a small stable which my Sonn John hath Latily new built which home Lot containes as the aprisement saith in my Late husbans inventory thre acres:
I 2ly give to my three daughters mary hues and Rebeca everts and Sarah Bowers all my wearing cloths which I doe Leave at my desease to be dividead to them proportionably:
3ly: I give to my Sonn thomas doud three Acres of meadow Land in the east River quarter and [seven] pound that he hath already the improvement of that is the [seven pound].
4ly I doe give to my Sonn John doud all my Right of third deveation Land being a bout eyght Acres and three quarters and one Acre of meadow Land in the east River quarter and alsoe a ?flock head which he hath the improvement of already with twenty Shillings I have already payde to mr. Richard Briant of Milford for John doud
-- All the Rest of my estate in catell of one sort and a nother with all the moveable goods that are not already disposead of in my Last will and testament I give them to my to Sonns Thomas doud and John doude to be equally dividead Betwene them they two alowing out of them ten Shillings apease to my three daughters mary hues Rebeca everts and Sarah Bowers I alsoe give to my Sonne John Doude the Stable which he built on my home Lot if he will Remove it
- Lastly I doe make my Sonn Jacob Doude executor and admenestrator of this my Last will and testament so that it Be fully atendead acording to this my wish and to go to the payment of all deats that may Be due which each of my two Sonns Thomas and John Shall pay out of the goods moveable proportionably to what they due injoy of my estate and to ?pec?on? and Re?fend? all just dues and doe what soever is nesesary Respeckting this my Last will and testament I alsoe desire Jacob doude my executor to take the help of my loving freinds Litenant William Seward and william Johnsonn in any thing that may be needefull in the trans ackting of this afaire acordingly I doe set to my hand this 3 of march 1679/80 --

Aprill 13 : Anno 1680. Upon Beter consideration I add this to my Last will and testament that all my three Sonns Thomas and John and Jacob doude shall Be Joynt executors and admenestrators witnes my mark

The inventory of Elizabeth Dowd, widow deceased in Guilford was taken on 17 December 1683 and recorded in New Haven.[1]
An Elezebeth Doude was buried 9 Aug 1669, in Guilford (her daughter). [2]
