Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy. My family tree is private but I want to collaborate on deep ancestors or historical figures.
Leslie is Citizen Potawatomi.

Although my career role is in science, I've always had a fascination with history and the past. I've found excitement in learning about my Native ancestors' antics at boarding school and my European ancestors' migrations. Perhaps the coolest moment I've experienced was learning that a somewhat small, random churchyard that captured my attention while in London was the burial place of one of my ancestors- I didn't learn this until several months after the trip.

In addition to researching my own roots, I also enjoy helping out on WikiTree by connecting ancestors based on the Data Doctors reports and researching individuals in the Oklahoma and Arkansas areas. Feel free to reach out if there's anything I can do to help you!

Biography

A bit about me- Grew up in the central Oklahoma area, moving between small towns every 4-6 years. My longest time in one city has been in Norman and OKC, which I consider my hometown. OKC just feels like home.

I've had many careers and personal interests. Work has included restaurant server (LOVED the work and income, but lack of benefits drove me out), General and Organic Chemistry instructor, researcher (my primary professional career), and now student. I've also ran a dog daycare, pool maintenance service, and professional mystery shopper service. The last one was the most interesting- I found myself doing everything from shopping retirement communities, going on vacations to evaluate amusement parks and zoos, posing as a private jet owner inquiring about services at small airports, and even timing the number of seconds between songs at "adult" nightclubs! It was a fun decade of eating out several times a week, always having a stopwatch set on my phone, and developing a knack for remembering any employee's name and physical description. I can also attest that there are some really fun retirement communities out there, some restaurants are really focused on things that most diners don't notice, and that the zookeeper talks or interactions at any amusement venue are well worth the time!

I like to stay busy, so I've always had a side job or gig such as rideshare, deliveries, childcare provider, scooter juicer, and hotel employee. Lately, I've been doing a lot of travel photography (my favorite hobby) and submitting stock and editorial photos for sale as well as volunteer photography for cemetery memorials. I also do transcription for The National Archives and am an Advanced Editor with the National Map Corps, where I primarily focus on cemeteries.

When I'm not trying to find the best camera angle or cramming my brain full of information for medical school, I enjoy running, traveling, volunteering, practicing calligraphy, and working on my historic home. Oh, and of course, genealogy! Retracing our ancestors' lives reminds me of how quickly the sources go from birth certificate to Find A Grave, which serves as a great reminder to enjoy every moment of our short time here on Earth. My current genealogy goals are to expand my CC7 to over 1,000 and to link Wolfgang Ernst Friedrich Pauli (1900-1958) to our Shared Tree. I would like to share management of his account with a German-speaking scientist then transfer it to the Notables project once the profile is complete, so please reach out if you would like to collaborate.

I am especially interested in hearing from those of the Seminole, Oklahoma Meek/Pixley lineage. I was given a drive with numerous unidentified photos from the 1920s-1960s and some that appear to be from the late 1800s/early 1900s. Unfortunately, most of the people who could help me identify the individuals in the photos have passed. I would love to collaborate and add some of the photos to profiles on here once the individuals are identified.

Thanks for reading my bio, and happy researching!

Leslie thanks for contributions regarding the Meek tree, I do appreciate your efforts. As a descendent however I have to do serious research regarding my family, "wading" though Y DNA testing, to be accurate (including throwing out previously written genealogies, proven incorrect by Y DNA). There are many speculated stories attached to my Meek family, so please use caution when adding any material.

Hello Leslie,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Leslie,

We are so pleased you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
