Private Co A 1st NY Cav. (John Duesler born October of 1832 in Montgomery County, New York. He was a boatman. [2]
He was in Companies M and A, 1st Regiment, Veterans Calvary October 1, 1863 to July 2, 1865. He broke his right shoulder in a fall from a horse in the Civil War and was captured.
He was at Andersonville, Georgia for three months then at Florence, Alabama. He was partially paralyzed from the injury and likely needed public welfare.
He changed his name on the Civil War application. He is on the 1850 and 1855 Salinas and 1900 Baldwinsville, New York census.
