CANTON -- Carlos D. "Red" Fairburn, 78, of 21 N. Avenue B, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at Heartland Health Care Center.

Born Oct. 2, 1920, in Canton to Terrance and Pearl Weaver Fairburn, he married Esther Hughes on Nov. 3, 1944, in San Antonio. She died Jan. 9, 1998. Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Hedges of Canton; one son, Richard of Athens; two brothers, Delbert of Astoria and Rolland "Breezy" of Springville, Tenn.; two sisters, Marie Hallam and Leona Boyer, both of Canton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 644 in Fairview.

He was a self-employed carpenter and also had worked at Demler Lumber Co. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Walles will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
