Biography

Sarah was born in Ohio [1, 4-6] in 1875 to Moses [1] and Susannah (Bahney) Flohr [7-8]. She married Carl Slaybaugh in Indiana in 1900. They raised a family of 2 children. Sarah died in Indiana in 1953 [8] and was buried in Akron I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Fulton County, Indiana.

8. The Logansport Press for August 4, 1953, Page 4 carried an obituary for Sarah Slaybaugh. It read: "SLAYBAUGH - Mrs. Sarah L. Slaybaugh, 77, died at her home in Macy at 3 a.m. Monday. Death resulted from complications which followed a fractured hip which she received in fall seven weeks ago. Mrs. Slaybaugh had resided in Macy for eight years moving there from Akron. Born near Akron Oct. 15, 1875 she was the daughter of Moses and Susannah (Bahney) Flohr. Her marriage to Carl Slaybaugh took place Feb. 8, 1899. Mrs. Slaybaugh was a member of the Methodist church at Macy and the Royal Neighbors Lodge at Akron. Surviving are the husband, son Lewis Slaybaugh, Akron; a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Bright, Akron; two brothers Grover Flohr, Warsaw and Jacob Flohr, Disko; sister, Mrs. Fred Townsend of near Akron, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Methodist church in Macy. Rev Leland Paul will be in charge. Burial will be made in the cemetery at Akron. The body will be returned to the residence at 2 p.m. Tuesday form the Moyer Haugert Funeral Home in Akron where friends are welcome."
