7. The South Bend Tribune for February 3, 1969, Page 11 carried an obituary for Carl Slaybaugh. It read: "Carl Slaybaugh AKRON--Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. today at the Sheetz Funeral Home here for Carl Slaybaugh, 90, formerly of Akron, who passed away Saturday in the Rochester Nursing Home where he had been a patient for five years. Rev. J. D. Thomason, pastor of the Akron Church of God, and Rev. Claude Fawns, pastor emeritus of the Akron United Methodist Church officiated. Burial will be in the Akron Cemetery. Slaybaugh was born Jan. 28, 1879, in Akron and spent most of his lifetime in that area. He was a retired farmer and a member of Modern Woodmen's Lodge of America. He was married Feb. 6, 1899 in Miami County to Ella Flohr who died in 1953. Surviving are a son, Lewis Slaybaugh, Akron, a daughter, Mrs. Marie Bright, Akron, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren."
