Biography

Nellie E. Fulmer, born 22 May 1873, was the fifth and final child of Ellen Elizabeth (Longstreet) Fulmer (1838-1930) and David Morgan Fulmer (1831-1900) ^[1]. Her birth location probably was in or near Marcellus, New York, where she was censused in 1875, age 2, with her birth family ^[2]. She moved with her family to Gibbon, Nebraska, where her family settled by 1880 ^[3], also censused in nearby Shelton, Nebraska ^[4].

Nellie married Roscoe Wilfred Thatcher (1872 - 1933). Their marriage probably occurred 25 August 1896 in Nebraska ^[5].

Their children were:

• Harry Glenn Thatcher (17 March 1898 - 11 June 1900 ^[6])
• Lida Marguerite Thatcher, b. about 1902; m. July 19, 1928 at Amherst, MA, Elmer Everett Barber (1904 - 1989); their son:
  • Alan Thatcher Barber (June 19, 1929 - Dec. 18, 1929)
• Dorothy G. Thatcher (Nov 1903 – 5 Oct 1913 ^[7])

This family was enumerated in the 1900 census of Lincoln ^[8]. By 1910, they were located in Pullman, Washington (Dr. Thatcher being one of the key professors at Washington State University) ^[9]. They subsequently were in St. Paul, Minnesota (University of Minnesota) ^[10], then Amherst, Massachusetts (University of Massachusetts) ^[11].

Nellie E. (Fulmer) Thatcher died 29 Nov 1946 at Arlington, Massachusetts. Her grave is in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA ^[12].
