Biography

Nancy Elizabeth George was born October 17, 1797 to parents James George and Elizabeth Pemberton. This date comes from a family member who claims to have the family Bible and census data helps confirm the date. As for location the alleged Bible says she was born in Sullivan, TN and the Federal 1850 census corroborated.^[1]

Nancy married Peter Hunt in Washington, Tennessee, around 1818 and they raised their family in Eastern Tennessee.

Nancy George Hunt died around October 12, 1874 (per grave marker) and she is buried in Beeler Cemetery of Bristol, Sullivan County, Tennessee.^[2]

Note

Census data collected in TN from 1800, 1810 and 1820 were destroyed or lost. It is worth noting both the 1860^[3] and 1870 census forms^[4] check barely legible boxes for "VA" as her place of birth but this could be due to her husband Peter Hunt being born there and perhaps the census taker simply filled in the lines underneath.
