George, born about 1885, was the son of William Hodgins and Eleanor Jaffray Ritchie.
During World War I, he signed up with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force in 1914. At that time he was an accountant. He served as a Captain with the 18th Battalion in England and France and was awarded the Military Cross.[1]
He married Edith May Fielding in 1921. At the time of their marriage, he was a civil servant in Ottawa, Ontario.[2]
