Paternal line Y-chromosome DNA test-takers:
I have began researching the Holladay side of my family. I believe that Daniel William Holladay (1784-1855) had a son named Reuban H Holladay (1834-1863) married a Sarah that was born in 1836 had one son Daniel William Holladay (1856- ?). He married a Martha Ann Sandlin (1855-1891), Daniel W. Holladay (1856- ) is my 2nd great grandfather. I'm trying to get some proof but can't find anything. I did find a marriage between Daniel and Martha Sandlin in Mississippi 1875, abd Ruben Flem Holladay and Mary Fleming 1898 in Mena, AR.
I have been researching this man, and I believe I may be a descendant. I have been DNA tested (mtDNA), and I believe I may be a descendant of one of his daughters. Here is a church record showing his last wife "Mary Holladay" among a group of founding members. I believe he may be buried in this cemetery. As you will read, most records were destroyed when the courthouse was burned and the church records were burned. I believe "Mary Ann Alexander" (wife of Samuel) may have been his daughter. The Alexander and Holladay families both moved to Marion Co. (now Lamar) AL from Kershaw Co. SC about the same time. The families are listed by each other in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 census records for Marion Co., AL. I may never find the answers, but if anyone reads this and thinks they are a descendant, I encourage you to be DNA tested. ....... http://www.fayette.net/Carruth/churchmulberrysprings.htm
