Margaret Jane was born 22 November 1906. She was the daughter of Robert James Hughey and Annette Elizabeth McKane. ^[1]

The family emigrated to Christchurch, New Zealand aboard the Pakeha sailed 9 December 1920. ^[2]

Research Notes

She is described as "late" in her sister Dorothy's death notice 1959; and was on the 1920 passenger log, but no NZ records found in between.

Possible marriage Margaret Jean McCrae Hughey + Hori Paapu Tupe. This Margaret dies 14 January 1947 age 38 and had two children; and was 25 years in NZ according to the cemetery record ^{[3] [4] [5]} A memoriam notice was placed by sister Aileen. ^[6]

The details are not quite right: the age is off by 2, the Years in NZ off by 2, and middle name "McCrae" not seen on the Irish records ; and she didn't have a sister Aileen unless that was Dorothy Aileen! Not sure if same person or not.
