Biography

This biography initially was auto-generated by a GEDCOM import. John deRoche redid it, based on Barriault's work (see Sources list) - pp. 103-105 & 71-72.

The parish records at Angey go back only to 1689 (Barriault p. 117), so we don't know the date of Jeanne Jouey's birth there. However, she was 18 when she married Jean Huault Jr. de Gilberdière at Champeaux in mid-July 1678. (The groom was almost 35.) The list of signing witnesses on their marriage certificate comprises: a local nobleman, Squire [écuyer] Gilles de Chabert, Seigneur of Champeaux; the bride's father, Samson Jouey; the groom's father, Jean Huault Sr.; another feudal notable named Nicolas Chenu, Seigneur of Bingard; the parish priest from Angey, Jacques Micouïn; and Perceval Gosse (the bride's maternal grandfather).

Jeanne Jouey & Jean Huault Jr. had 7 recorded children, of which Jacqueline (who married Georges DesRoches) was the first (interestingly, since her birth occurred 5 & a half years after the parents married). After Jacqueline came a son, Julien, who survived for not quite 3 months, while the next son, Louis, was luckier. Then two daughters, Catherine & Françoise (no further record of them, in Barriault); another son, François, who also lived into adulthood; and finally, Gilles, who didn't make it through his first year of life.

Jean Huault de Gilberdière lived till his 80th year & was buried 8 Sept 1722 at Champeaux. We don't know when Jeanne Jouey passed away, although she was about 17 years her husband's junior. The youngest of her 7 (known) children was born when she was close to 38 years old, in early 1698.
