Biography
The son of John Kase (1788-1864) and Mary Stout (1790-1826), David was born in Greenwich, New Jersey in 1825.[citation needed] He migrated to New York, setting in Lodi, in Seneca County, where in 1850, he lived in the household of Elijah and Catherine Lott, while working as a laborer.[1] It is most likely that Catherine Lott was Catherine Stout, his mother's sister. John Kase's mother, Mary Stout Kase, had passed away in 1826, the year after John Kase was born.
David Kase married Emeline (Van Vleet) Kase, having three known children together. They made their home in Lodi, purchasing land to farm.[2][3][4][5] In 1870, his real estate was values at $11,500 and his personal property at $2,070. His wife's real estate was valued at $7,666 and her personal property at $1,000.[6][7][8][9][10][11]
His wife passed away in 1903; in 1910, David lived with his daughter, Mary, who had not married and had become the head of the household, as her father was then 84 years old.[12] David Kase passed away in Lodi on Christmas Day of 1914, at the age of 89[13] and is buried at West Lodi Cemetery.[14]
