Edmund Keene, son of Edmund Kenn and Margaret Strode, was born about 1573 (est). He was Edmund Kean of Langford, Somerset, gentleman, living in 1623.[1]
Edmund married twice, and had nine or 10 children.[2] Edmund Keane, or Keene, a tanner of Wrington, Somerset, wrote his will in January, 1628. It was proved in June, 1630. He writes, " A marriage shortly to be solemnized between my daughter Agnes Keene & John Locke, son of Nicholas Locke, of Pensford. Elizabeth Locke, my daughter. My wife, Mary, Extrix."[3] The will of Edmund's wife, Mary Keene, of Wrington, widow was dated 16 Nov 1636 and proved 8 Dec 1638. Mary names her sons Richard, John & Edmund, and her daughters Jane Peryn and Agnes Locke.[3] Edmund was buried at Wrington, Somerset on 15th Apr 1630,[4] and Mary on 20th Oct 1638, she in the church. The Nicholas Locke mentioned in the will was a member of a Dorset family who had migrated to Somerset, and settled in the hamlet of Belluton close to Pensford.[5]
