Biography

Jacob was born in 1779. He was the son of William Kitt. Jacob married his wife, Barbara Woolf, in Pennsylvania. They soon moved to Ohio, living first in New Lisbon, Columbiana county, then moving in 1906 to Osnaburg township, in what became Stark county, where they were early settlers. In 1805, he was among a group of men who set out to explore the area to claim house sites and land. [1] He had the first distillery in the township, and their daughter, Polly, was the first female white child born in the township in 1805. (When she grew up, she married Joseph Doll, another early settler of the township.) [2] In the 1850 census, he was living near his son Isaac, and grandson? Peter. His parents were born in Germany, according to the 1880 census. He passed away in 1881.
