Biography

George was born about 1791. His brother, Jacob, was on a party out of New Lisbon, Ohio, in 1805, to look for housesites in unclaimed territory. George moved to Ohio before 1818. He may have served in the Ohio militia in the War of 1812, but there were two other George Kitts in Ohio, so it may have been another one. He was married in Ohio, the wedding being performed by "Saul Henckle, M.G.". The Ohio censuses have the family living in Moorefield, Clark, Ohio. In the 1830 census, 6 children are listed, 3 boys and 3 girls. He passed away in 1875. In the 1850 census, his wife was still alive; she was dead by the 1870 census. In 1850, his son Nicolas was living nearby with his wife Elizabeth. They also were neighbors of the Markers, Scarlets and Otts.
