Biography

Sarah Ann Knight the eldest daughter of George & Mary Ann Knight was born in November 1830; at or about Sherborne in Gloucestershire, England.

She immigrated to Australia as a Bounty Immigrants in 1844 on the Neptune with her father and siblings. This came after her mother had passed away and her father had remarried.

Sarah Ann would later marry William Winley at the Schoolhouse at Jamberoo in New South Wales, Australia in June 1850. They would go on to have at least 9 children between 1851 and 1871.

Sarah Ann Winley passed away at the age of 69 years in March 1900 of Pneumonia of 3 weeks duration, following chronic mania of 10 years. She had lived her last years at the Callum Park Mental Asylum in Leichhardt, New South Wales, Australia.

She was buried alongside her beloved William who had predeceased her by 9 years, at the Kiama Cemetery in Kiama, New South Wales, Australia.
