Vernon was born in 1946. He was the son of Henry LaForest and Laura Baker. He passed away in 2022.

Berne (Albany County): Vernon A. LaForest, Sr. 76, of Bradt Hollow Road, Town of Berne, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 4th at his home after a recent decline in health.

Mr. LaForest was born August 19, 1946 in Plattsburg, NY, a son of Henry and Laura (Baker) LaForest. He and his family lived on Fort Road in Schoharie for many years before relocating to Berne 15 years ago. Vernon worked at General Electric Co. in Schenectady as a Steam Fitter, later driving truck for Truck One, Don Cornell, and also owner/operator of his own truck. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, trucking, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include: his wife; Jean B. (Dupras) LaForest, whom he married August 6, 1966, his children; Sylvia (Scott) Mansheffer of Central Bridge, Vernon (Carrie) LaForest, Jr. of Berne, and Angelique (Eric) Yandon of Berne, 7 grandchildren; Jade Ottman, Emma Mansheffer, Logan LaForest, James (Katlynn) Armlin, Angeliena (Chester) Compo-Miller, Natilee Yandon, and Alanna Yandon, 3 great-grandchildren; Mya, Karson, and Riley, his sister, Marilyn (Robert) Warnock, his brother, Bernard (Patricia) LaForest, his sister-in-law, Carol LaForest and many nieces and nephews. Vern was pre-deceased by his siblings; Adrian (Rita) LaForest, Milton (Venus) LaForest, Clarence (Brenda) LaForest, Melvin LaForest, Leon (Marie) LaForest, Ella (Thomas) LaFountain, Doris (George) Tallman, and Harriet (Leon) Smart along with his infant siblings, Sylvia and Clifford LaForest.
