Biography

Marguerite Martin was born in 1644 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France. Her parents were Pierre Martin and Marie Catherine Vigneau. She married Jean Bourg in 1667 Together they had 9 children:^[1]

In 1671 they lived in Port Royal.^[2]

In 1686, at Port Royal, Marguerite MARTIN, was living with her husband, Jean BOURC [sic], aged 40, and their seven children: Anne [sic], aged 18, Marguerite, aged 16, Marie [sic], aged 13, Isabelle [sic], aged 10, Magdelaine [sic], aged 8, Catherine, aged 6, and Jean-Baptiste, aged 3. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 12 arpents of cultivable land with 16 cattle, 15 sheep, and 12 hogs.^[3]

In 1693, at Port Royal, Marguerite MARTIN, aged 41, was living with her husband, Jean BOURG, aged 40, and their six children: Anne [sic], aged 25, Marguerite, aged 23, Ilizabeth [sic], aged 18, Madeleine, aged 13, Catherine, aged 12, and Jean Baptiste, aged 9. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 12 arpents of cultivable land with 20 cattle, 18 sheep, and 18 pigs.^[4]

Marguerite is found as a widow in 1698 in Port Royal^[5]

Marguerite Martin, widow of Jean Bourg died on April 24, 1707 and was buried the next day at Port Royal, Acadia.^[6][7][8]
