Johann Georg Mathiesen was a Volga German.

Johann Georg Mathiesen was born 27 Feb 1838 in Stahl am Tarlyk, Stepnoye, Volga, Russia to Christian Heinrich Mathiesen and Anna Barbara Liebrecht.[1] He was baptized on 6 Mar 1838 in Laub by Pastor Hölz with godparents: Johannes Schiebeltuth, Johann Georg Treu, Johann Georg Schiebelhut, Catharina Walder, Catharina Bessinger, and Eva Catharina Lindegrien.[2]

He was engaged on 4 Jan 1858 and married to Maria Elisabeth Müller on 30 Jan 1858 in Stahl am Tarlyk. They were married by Pastor Allendorf and witnesses were Johann Andrew Kukus and Georg Heinrich Müller.[3]
