Biography
When Mary "Polly" McGaughey was born in 1786 in Greene, Tennessee, her father, William, was 48, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 44. She married Eli McCain on November 5, 1804, in Rutherford, Tennessee. They had five children in 24 years. She died on August 23, 1831, in Alabama at the age of 45, and was buried in Greeneville, Tennessee.

At one time the sisters Mary "Polly" and Margaret "Peggy" were mixed. refer to the Photo of Family of William McGaughey and Elizabeth Lackey.
