Biography

Dennis Mosely was born 4 March, 1858 in Montgomery County, Georgia, the son of John H. Moseley and Edith Thompson Moseley^[1].

He lived with his parents and siblings Thomas, Lucretia, Keziah, and Mary in Montgomery County in 1860^[2]. In 1870^[3], when he was 11, he lived in Georgia with his mother, and siblings Thomas, Lucretia, Keziah, Mary, John, and his grandmother, Feroby. After his father died, he remained at home with his mother and siblings^[4].

Dennis Mosely and Emily Hughes were married in Montgomery County, 11 November 1883^[5][6].

She was the daughter of Duncan Hughes and Sarah Wiggins of the same county. Dennis Mosley was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Vidalia, Georgia and his wife was a charter member in the First Methodist Church in Vidalia. Dennis Mosley was later a prominent member of the North Thompson Baptist Church.

In 1900 they lived in Vidalia with their children Hilton, Wilson, Rose Annie, Elliott, Sherman, and Julius^[7].

He appears on the 1910^[8] and 1920 census as head of household^[9].

He was named next of kin on his son Sherman's World War I draft registration^[10].

He died 8 January 1930 and he and Emily are both buried in North Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery, Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia^[1].

His son Hilton died in 1943^[11].
