Genealogically Defined

John was born in 1823 at Stisted, Essex, England[1][2][3][4] and baptised on the 24th August 1823 at Stisted, Essex, England, the son of William Ogles and Sarah Ogles of Stisted[5].

In 1852, John married Sarah Herbert, possibly at Bradwell juxta Coggeshall, Essex, England[6]

He passed away aged 60 years in 1884[7].

Research Notes

The Bradwell juxta Coggeshall parish marriage registers from 1837 and burials from 1846 are missing from Essex Archives Online. The marriage and burial likely took place at Bradwell Juxta Coggeshall.

A few trees on Ancestry have incorrectly merged John's wife Sarah Herbert with Margaret Connell (daughter of Maurice Connell) who married a different John Ogles (born abt. 1815 at Dagenham, Essex, son of William Ogles, labourer) at St. Leonard, Shoreditch, Middlesex. England on the 15th November 1846. This couple had children: James Ogles b. 1848, William Ogles b. 1850 Charles Ogles b. 1853, John Ogles b. 1855 (births registered in the Whitechapel registration district) and and Elizabeth Ogles b. abt. 1860. Margaret was born about 1822 at Whitechapel, Middlesex and they are living in Whitechapel in the 1861 Census and at Mile End Old Town in the 1871 census.
