Biography

Martin Andrew Platz was born July 21, 1893 in Burt County, Nebraska to immigrant parents. His father, Joseph Platz, was born in Roffna, Switzerland. His mother Emelia was born in Mels, Switzerland. His parents met and married in America after they immigrated.

His parents moved the family to Idaho where they farmed. Martin is reported to have been one of ten children, nine boys and one girl, who were raised in the Catholic faith.

Martin married Mildred Sylvia Blayden on August 28, 1917 in New Plymouth, Payette, Idaho.

Martin and Mildred farmed near New Plymouth, Idaho until they retired and moved into town.

Martin died on January 8, 1976 in Caldwell, Idaho. He was buried in Payette, Idaho in Parkview Cemetery.
