Biography

My parents, John Nielsen and [Creger-75|Helen Creger]], were the original genealogists in the family.

My father's parents were George Nielsen, an immigrant from Denmark, and Ida Larsdotter Westlund, an immigrant from Sweden, so he knew his heritage.

My mother, on the other hand, only had family lore to suggest where her family origins were. In the early 1970's, my parents set out to find my mother's immigrant ancestors. They never expected they would still be looking for many of those immigrant ancestors up to the time of their deaths.

In 1980, my parents self-publlshed Space:Historical_Background_of_the_Brickey-Slinker-Houlette_Families, the result of their research to date on three family lines.

At the time of their deaths, I inherited the file cabinets holding their Space:Creger-Blayden_Research papers and over 25 3-ring binders. The binders contain family group sheets for each direct ancestor and their descendants, along with source notes. The binders also hold family group sheets for each ancestor's siblings and their descendants. In many cases, there are also biographies for each individual.

My hope is to share their vast research here on WikiTree,
