Biography
Seth Porterfield was the son of Patrick Porterfield.[1]
He died after 1808.[2]
Many references to Seth are found in petitions and other legal documents of the time.
In 1777, he signed a petition to the General Assembly of Tennessee for an event in Washington County. He is presumed to have been a resident of Washington County. [3]
In 1788, he was John Lowry witnessed to a land sale in Sullivan County.[4]
In 1791, a "Porterfield" and John Lowry is mentioned in a Deed Book in Sullivan County.[4]
In 1802, Seth Porterfield purchase 200 acres from John Lowry.[4]
In 1803, he was a signer of a petition complaining about exhorbitant fees for constable services. He was presumed to be living Sullivan County at the time.[5]
In 1808, he was named in the will of his father-in-law, Samuel Scott. [2]
