Biography

Sheri Stump was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. Her parents raised her as a missionary to Belize Central America from age 11 to 17. As a result, she missed out on many family reunions and such, but always wanted to know more about her family history. She started working on her ancestry briefly in 2010, but 2015 was when she started researching fervently. She is a stickler for details, and likes to make sure that history is recorded as accurately as possible. Many of her ancestors have not been researched and recorded at all. She wants to change that.

Hi Sheri,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Check out this record for a possible connection information on the father of Joseph (Joe) C Porterfield https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M8TG-N11

Welcome to WikiTree. I am also been very interested in the Porterfields as my grandmother was Juanita Porterfield. If you go to one of you Porterfield ancestor pages here at and click on the Porterfield name at the top you get to a page that has a link for Porterfields One Study. I have created that page as a place to capture information about the Porterfields. Its an interesting family surname with many Porterfields in America connected to the ancient Porterfields from Renfrewshire, Scotland. I took a quick peek at your Porterfields and did not see a connection to Porterfields I am aware of. Happy to dig deeper tonight or this weekend. Do you know anything more about of Joe C Porterfield's parents? FamilySearch.org might be a good place to start.

Hi Sheri,

A warm welcome to the WikiTree family! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

We’re really glad you’re here. More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.
