Biography

Alexander was born in 1738. He was the son of Gabriel Porterfield and Elizabeth Cunningham.^[1] He passed away in 1768. He died in a fall from his horse.Also, Patterson (1852) does not cite this son.^[2][3] As he had no heirs (and was therefore the last male heir of Hapland), the property and lands of Hapland were divided between the three sisters.^[3]
