Biography
Margaret "Peggy" Porterfield was born in 1782. She was the daughter of William Porterfield and Elizabeth Wilson. [1]
She married Charles Pierce. They were the parents of:[2]
- Edward, born 12 Aug 1811
- Mary S, born 30 May 1813
- Levi Quinby, born Levi
Peggy and her sister Polly ran a shop out of Polly's house known as "West India Company.” The building still stands today and is included on the Stroudwater District Walk of Portland Women's History Trail.[3]
She passed away in 1853. [1]
