William Priestman/Prestman/Preistman^[1] was born in the 1400s. He was of Newton Grange, Oswaldkirk, Yorkshire.^[1][2] The Priestmans were an ancient yeoman family.^[2]

He married _Releson, daughter of William Releson and Isabel Urswick (the daughter of Robert Urswick who was the son of Sir Thomas Urswick of Badsworth and Joan Hertforth).^[1]

William and his wife had issue, including:
