Christian was born on 30 May 1872 in NJ. Note: In the 1910 Federal Census, it was recorded that both his parents were born in the United States. According to the 1920 Federal Census, both his parents were born in Gremany. His father was born in New Jersey and his mother in Germany according to the 1930 Federal Census^{[1][2][3][4][5][6]}

Christian was baptised on 8 November 1874 in Zions Reformed Lutheran Church, Mays Landing Road, Folsom Borough, Buena Vista Township, Atlantic County, NJ.

When Christian was 22 he married on 25 December 1894 in Millville, Cumberland County, NJ. The couple had 11 children: Lewis Raymond, @I33641@, Bertha Raymond, Charles Raymond, Helen Rehmann, Mary Rehmann, Frank Rehmann, Elisabeth Rehmann, Alfred A.
