Biography

Birth & Baptism

Magdalentie is the daughter of Dutch immigrants, Jan/Johannes Hendricksen Spier & Maritje/Mary Franse.

Marriage to Thomas Laurensen Toers

(Magdalaentie is the sister of wife of Thomas' brother Arent Toers.)

Four children are attributed to Magdalentie and Thomas in family histories:

  1. Lawrence
  2. Saartje(Sara)
  3. Lena
  4. Nicholas (Claes)

Marriage to Johannis Simonsen Van Winkle?

Is this the same Madalena who was married to Johannis Simonsen Van Winkle? Family histories attribute Magalena Janse Spier as the mother of all of Johannis Simonsen Van Winkle's children. [1] But, no record has been found for this marriage. In addition, the birthdates of the children attributed to this profile indicate that either she is not the mother of some Johannis's children OR that she was simultaneously married to both Johannis Van Winkle and Thomas Toers. More research is needed on the possibility that this is a conflated profile.

According to the birthdates of the children attributed to Spier-23, She is married to and having children with two different men over the same time period: Van_Winkel-8 and Toers-2. This does not seem plausible to me. Should we add a research note box

Spier-62 and Spier-23 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the lower numbered profile. No tree conflicts. Thanks!

Spier-100 and Spier-62 appear to represent the same person because: Please verify that these are the same (same mother, same son, same dates/places birth/death, &c)

Cheers,

Cousin Bruce
