Biography

Biography - Lisa Margaretha Staudt

Lisa Margaretha Staudt was born 24 Mar 1715 to Abraham and Anna Katharina (Geiss) Staudt.[1] Sha married Johan Nicholas Klee on 11 February 1738.[1] Margaret was most likely traveling with her father and husband on the ship 'Loyal Judith' when they arrived in the colonies.[2]

Her husband, Nicholas Klee, probably died at some time late in 1763 because his will was filed and proved in November of 1763. The will of Nicholas Klee is available in several locations.

Lisa lived another 23 years and passed in 1786, Bern, Berks, Pennsylvania, U.S.

Land Records

Three parcels of land were originally purchased in Lancaster County under the name of Nicholas CLAY on May 13, 1747 prior to the absorption of that area into Berks County upon it's formation.[3]

Nicholas Klee owned 100 acres of land as recorded for Margaret Klee in trust for her children in the warrant record books for Berks County, Pennsylvania. Two surveys are found for this property within the Pennsylvania Archives online land records. These land surveys show that Nicholas, Margaretha, and their children lived next to Margaretha's father, Abraham Stoudt.

Survey 1, 17 August 1765[7]
Survey 2 17 August 1765[8]
Section 4 of this map shows the property location within Bern Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Nicholas Klee probably died at some time late in 1763 because his will was filed and proved in November of 1763. The will of Nicholas Klee is available in several locations.[9][10] As long as Margaretha did not remarry before her youngest child was fourteen, she had control of the entire estate. If she remarried, she needed to turn control of the estate over to one or more of her children.[11] She never remarried. Upon Margaretha's death, the land transferred to her oldest son, Abraham. He in turn divided the property among his siblings.[12]

Staudt-47 and Staudt-23 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same individuals. I'll work on the bios if you can OK the merge. There may be more coming with the Klee/Clay line, a couple of gedcoms uploaded the same names. I've been working on this line and may request research from the PA Historical Society.

Please let me know! Thanks for your help,
